Anaemic powergrid, useless precision bonus and an awful slot layout. The Nighthawk just doesn't work in PVP. CCP will be asked to look into the PG issue at least, however.

I'd like to see a Nighthawk with a lowslot moved to a midslot. This would compensate for the lower base shield HP, and one fewer rig slot, relative to the Drake.
But I haven't looked into this in any great detail, as the priority has been bringing the PG issue to the attention of CSM and CCP. Assuming that the PG issue goes through ok, we'll have to see how the NH manages then before seeing if the slot layout should be tweaked. Similarly, it's awkward proposing a change to the useless precision bonus while Precision Heavies are still up for inspection by CCP.

HAMs are only one part of the problem. Try fitting a gang mod on the NH. Then count the RCU IIs you'll need... 
Those saying that field CS shouldn't fit gang mods, or that the other field CS cannot easily fit gang mods, are missing the point. The other field CS can fit gang mods without too much trouble. The Nighthawk should be no different.

That's the point - without a gang mod, there's no point flying a field CS - you may as well bring a BS. The NH finds it MUCH harder to fit a gang mod than the other field CS, hence it needs a PG boost. It really is as simple as that.

I didn't comment because I thought the "Nighthawk is uber in PVE" fallacy was just so obvious. The NH's DPS when fit with the stupid PVE passive tank doesn't compare with that of a Raven, Domi or Abaddon, and the difference in tank is inconsequential. So the only people who probably think that the NH is excellent in PVE are probably the same type as those that take Ravens into L2 missions.

The proposed speed/MWD/AB changes completely throw the Nighthawk in the air. Will MWD still be essential? Will the Precision bonus become useful? Who knows!
